1. Open the computer's drive tray and insert the software CD, then shut the tray. Wait a moment for the CD to begin automatic playback.
2. Insert the USB plug on one end of the adapter cable into any USB port on the computer. The three-pronged arrow molded on one side of the plug should face upward.
3. Click the on-screen buttons on the computer monitor to install the software.
4. Connect the parallel plug to the matching port on the rear of the Laserjet 6P when prompted by the software installation screen.
5. Finish the installation by clicking the buttons when prompted, then restart the PC.
