1. Plug in the MX860 and turn it on. Do not connect it to your computer. Press the 'Menu' button.
2. Use the left/right arrow keys to choose 'Settings' and press 'OK.' Select 'Device settings' and press 'OK.' Select 'LAN Settings' and press 'OK.'
3. Select 'Change Wireless/Wired' and press 'OK.' Select 'Wireless LAN Active' and press 'OK.' Turn off the printer and connect it to your computer with a USB cable.
4. Download and install the appropriate driver version for your computer from USA.canon.com. Double-click the downloaded .exe file to install the drivers and launch the setup program.
5. Click 'Easy Install' in the driver setup window. In the next window, click 'Install.' Select 'Use the printer on the network' and click 'Next' and agree to the license agreement.
6. Click the 'Setup' tab and select 'Connect printer to the network for the first time.' Click 'Next' and then 'Next' again.
7. Select an access point from the list of available APs and enter the network key (if you have one) in the window. Click 'Connect.'
8. Select 'Get IP address automatically' and click 'Connect.' The printer will ask for and receive an IP address from your router and connect to the network.
9. Unplug the USB cable, turn off the printer, and move it to your chosen location. Turn it on again, and press 'Next' on the 'Connection Performance Measurement' screen. If all connections are good, press 'Finish' on the computer's setup screen and exit the wizard. Your computer is now ready to print wirelessly.
