1. Check the cables connecting the printer to the computer to make sure they fit snugly.
2. Refresh the printer connection. To do this, click 'Start' and then choose 'Control Panel' and then pick 'Printers and Faxes.'
3. Double-click on the HP printer and select 'Printer' from the toolbar menu.
4. Click 'View' and then click 'Refresh.'
5. Go to the 'General' tab and see if you can print a test page.
