How to Reset a Brother LC51 Cartridge

1. Turn on the Brother LC51 printer. Open the printer cover, and remove the color of ink cartridge that is flashing the error code on your computer.
2. Cut off a piece of electrical tape approximately 1/2 inch in length. Alternatively, you can use clear tape and darken it with a black permanent marker.
3. Turn the cartridge upside down, and place the electrical tape over the bottom portion of the ink cartridge, covering the square groove in the center that has a hole in it. Press the tape along the edges to be sure that it adheres to the cartridge.
4. Replace the ink cartridge in the printer. Shut the case and press the 'Power' button to turn the printer off. Unplug the power cable from the back of the printer for 30 seconds.
5. Plug the power cable back in, and turn the printer on. Repeat the process on each color of ink cartridge that is giving you an error message.
