How to Connect a Macbook Pro to a TV Composite

1. Examine the array of ports installed on the left side of the MacBook Pro. Find the computer's Thunderbolt port, which is labeled with an icon of a lightning bolt; the port is located between the Firewire and USB ports. Plug the small end of the Mini DisplayPort-to-VGA adapter into the Thunderbolt port.
2. Examine the ports installed on the video converter. Find the port labeled 'VGA IN.' Plug one end of the VGA cable into the 'VGA IN' port. Plug the other end of the VGA cable into the port located on the large end of the Mini DisplayPort-to-VGA adapter.
3. Find the composite video port on the converter; the port will have a yellow ring in the center. Plug one end of the video cable into the composite video port. Examine the ports on your television and find an unused composite video port. Plug the remaining end of the video cable into the composite video port.
4. Plug one end of the USB cable into the matching port on the converter. Plug the remaining end of the USB cable into an unused USB port on your computer. Turn on the television and the MacBook Pro. Cycle through your television's input channels until the MacBook's desktop appears on the television screen.
5. Open the 'Apple' menu, and select the option labeled 'System Preferences.' Click the icon labeled 'Displays.' Click the button labeled 'Arrangement.' Click and drag the blue squares to rearrange the displays, if desired; alternatively, select the check box labeled 'Mirror Displays' if you want the television screen to show the same images as your MacBook Pro.
