How to Troubleshoot the Yellow Strip Down When Paper is Printing in an HP 2600N

1. Start the HP Toolbox from the printer's control panel.
2. Click on 'Maintenance' from the troubleshooting tab.
3. Click on the 'Cleaning page' icon and wait for the printer to print a page with a pattern on it.
4. Remove the papers from trays 2 and 3 and place the printed pattern face down in tray 2.
5. Print 'Clean' on the printer panel.
6. Print a test file to see if the streak appears.
Change the toner
1. Lift the front cover. It will flip open and reveal the interior of the printer.
2. Locate the yellow toner cartridge. It is immediately under the black toner cartridge which sits at the top of the printer. Grab it by the center and give a firm pull to slide it out of the printer.
3. Open the replacement cartridge bag and remove the new cartridge. Put the used yellow cartridge in the bag to be recycled.
4. Hold the new cartridge by the blue handles on each end and gently shake. This will help distribute the toner, which might have settled unevenly.
5. Turn the cartridge so that the handles are facing forward and gently slide the cartridge into the empty spot in the printer until it locks into place.
6. Shut the panel, turn on the printer and wait for it to calibrate the new cartridge.
7. Print out a couple of test sheets. The first sheet or two might still have some residual streaking on it, but that should fade.
