1. Turn on your printer and open the top cover. The ink cartridges on many models move to the center of the printer. Some models require pressing the power button to move the cartridges to the loading position.
2. Raise the front of the holding clamps with your fingers, if your printer uses clamps to secure the cartridges. Some models only require lifting the rear top of the cartridge forward to release the ink cartridge from the carriage.
3. Pull the old ink cartridge out of the carriage. Remove the tape from the new in cartridge. Some replacement cartridges have a plastic tab that you remove instead of tape. Refer to the directions on the ink cartridge box.
4. Insert the new cartridge into the carriage. The label on top normally should point to the rear of the printer. The cartridges will only fit one way into the carriage.
5. Press the cartridge until it locks into place. If your printer uses a clamp, lower the clamp over the cartridge until it snaps into place. Close the cover of the printer.
