How to Stop Quicktime From Being the Default

1. Click the 'Start' button in the lower-left corner of your screen and select 'Default Programs.'
2. Press 'Associate a File Type or Protocol with a Program' and click the file type that automatically opens with QuickTime.
3. Click the 'Change Program' button and select a new program as your default. This is required. If your desired default program does not show up in the window, click the 'Browse...' button in the bottom-right of the screen, locate your program, and click 'Open.'
4. Click the 'OK' button to save your changes.
Changing QuickTime Default Settings (Mac OS X)
1. Right-click on the type of file on your computer QuickTime plays by default. Select the 'Get Info' option.
2. Click the arrow next to the 'Open With' tab. Choose one of the other programs listed to be your default player.
3. Click the 'Change All...' button if you want to 'Use This Application to Open All Documents Like This One.'
4. Click the 'Continue' button when prompted by the pop-up window to save your changes.
