Canon PIXMA Won't Print Black (6 Steps)

1. Press the “Power” button to turn on the printer. Open the top cover to allow the print head to move to the center of the printer.
2. Open the paper output tray by pulling down, after inserting your fingers in the notches in the side of the tray. Open the inner cover by pulling it forward.
3. Examine the row of ink tanks and find the one that is flashing. This should be the black ink tank. Push on the tab at the front of the ink tank to release it. Take the old ink tank out of the printer and discard it or set it aside.
4. Pull the orange tape off of the new ink tank. Do not touch the metal contacts on the bottom of the tank when removing the tape. Take the orange cap off of the ink tank and set it aside.
5. Place the new ink tank inside the printer. Make sure the metal contacts are pointing down. Press down on the “Push” label on the ink tank until you hear it snap into place.
6. Close the inner and outer covers to allow the printer head holder to move back into position. Close the paper output tray to complete the task.
