How to Refill a Pitney Bowes Postage Machine Ink Cartridge

1. Turn the cartridge over so that the bottom of the cartridge is facing up. The label on the side will be upside-down. Locate the ink exit hole on the bottom of the cartridge. Cover the exit hole with masking tape.
2. Set the cartridge right-side-up on a flat surface over some paper towels to absorb any spilled ink. The cartridge is facing the right way if you can look at the side of the cartridge and read the label.
3. Drill a small hole on the top of the cartridge directly above the exit hole. Drill down into the foam sponge that is inside the cartridge.
4. Fill the syringe with 10 milliliters of ink. Insert the needle of the syringe into the hole that was drilled, making sure the needle is inserted into the internal foam.
5. Slowly inject the ink into the cartridge. The cartrdige is full when ink flows out of the top.
6. Remove the tape from the exit hole on the bottom of the cartridge.
7. Position the cartridge right-side-up above some paper towels and allow it to drip for five minutes. Do not allow the cartridge to touch the paper towels.
8. Return the cartridge to the printer. Run a print head cleaning cycle if the cartridge does not print or if printouts have streaks.
