1. Connect the power cord and adapter to an electrical outlet after removing the printer from its packaging. Press the “Power” button located on the top left front of the printer.
2. Pull down the tray loader and extend the tray. Load plain, white paper into the tray loader.
3. Open the cartridge door above the tray loader and remove the tape on both cartridges. Insert the black cartridge into the right slot and the tri-colored cartridge into the left slot. Close the cartridge door.
4. Insert the HP Photosmart C3100 installation CD into the CD-ROM drive of your computer. Enter in the product key, which is located on your CD package, into the boxes on the screen.
5. Click on the “Next” button and then select the “Typical (Recommended)” option from the Installation Options window. Click on the “Next” button.
6. Click on the option to agree with the License Agreement and then click on the “Next” button. Locate where you want to save the printer software on your computer and then click on the “Next” button.
7. Connect the USB connector to the printer and then to your computer. Make sure that your printer is turned on and then click on the “Next” button. Allow time for the installation process to complete and then click on the “Finish” button.
