How to Refill the HP 901 Cartridge

1. Turn off your HP printer and remove the HP 901 ink cartridges. To remove them, lift up on the cover and pull back on the plastic holder that covers the cartridges. Pull them toward you to remove.
2. Place the tip of the syringe into the top of the black ink bottle. Pull back on the plunger to fill the syringe. Repeat for the yellow, magenta and cyan inks. Each ink will have its own syringe.
3. Pull back the labels of the HP 901 ink cartridges. This will expose a series of holes.
4. Place your syringe filled with black ink into the hole (top, center) of the HP 901 black ink cartridge. Push down on the plunger to fill.
5. Repeat with the colored inks. When refilling the HP 901 ink cartridges, you must inject the ink into the designated holes. All of the holes are located on the side of the ink cartridge where you pulled away the label. The yellow ink goes in the center hole closest to the top of the cartridge. The magenta ink goes in the hole on the bottom left-hand side. The cyan ink goes in the hole on the the bottom right-hand side.
6. Replace the cartridge and run a couple of cleaning cycles, as per the printer's instructions.
