How Run an HDMI on a Ceiling Projector

1. Locate the studs in your ceiling on either side of where you want to mount the projector. Follow them to the wall and mark their locations. If you have a drywall ceiling, you will have to drag your cables between these joists, because of the way the ceilings are installed.
2. Find two studs on either side of where the ceiling joists meet the wall and mark their locations.
3. Cut a small patch of drywall out of the wall about four inches below the ceiling, between the wall studs you marked. The hole should be large enough to fit the end of a handheld drill through.
4. Cut another patch of drywall out of the wall directly below the first patch, at about the height your home theater components will sit. It should be large enough to fit your fingers into.
5. Cut another patch of drywall out of the ceiling, between the ceiling joists, about 5 inches from where the ceiling meets the wall. You should be able to reach the top of the wall frame through it.
6. Cut a small patch of drywall from the ceiling near where your projector will be mounted. It should be large enough to fit a hand through.
7. Drill a 1/2-inch hole in the top stud of the wall frame, above where you cut the patch of drywall from the wall.
8. Feed the slim rod down through the hole you cut near the top of the wall. Pull the other end out through the bottom hole.
9. Attach the HDMI cable to the end of the slim rod, and draw it up through the wall by pulling the slim rod upwards. Pull enough of the cable through that it doesn't fall back through when you release it.
10. Feed the slim rod through the hole you cut near the projector mount's intended location, and run it out towards the wall.
11. Feed the HDMI cable through the hole you cut in the top stud of the wall frame, then fasten it to the end of the slim rod and pull it through the ceiling using the slim rod.
12. Repeat this process with any other cables you need to run to the projector, then patch the two holes in the drywall near where the wall and ceiling meet. (Resource 1 will help you get things patched back up.)
