How to Install a Printer Driver Remotely

1. Ensure that the remote network printer is on. Go to the computer you will use to connect to the network printer.
2. Click 'Start' and then 'Devices and Printers.' Click the 'Add a Printer' link at the top of the new window when it opens.
3. Click the 'Add a Network, Wireless or Bluetooth Printer' link in the 'Add Printer' window. Wait for Windows to search for available printers on the network.
4. Click and select the name of the remote printer under the 'Printer Name' heading. Click the 'Next' button.
5. Wait while Windows retrieves the device driver from the host computer attached to the network printer automatically. Insert the driver installation CD for the network printer if Windows prompts you to do so. In most cases, Windows 7 installs most network drivers from the host machine automatically. However, with some older parallel or USB printers, you must install the drivers from the CD. If prompted for the installation CD, insert the disc and then click 'Next.'
6. Enter a descriptive name for the remote printer in the 'Printer Name' field. Press the 'Next' button.
7. Click and enable the 'Set as the Default Printer' option if you want to send all print jobs from your computer to the remote printer. Click the 'Print a Test Page' button to test the connection from the local PC and the remote printer. After the test page prints successfully on the remote printer, click the 'Finish' button.
