How to Troubleshoot an HP Photosmart C4280

1. Determine if the printer cartridge is low on ink. An ink icon will flash, if the ink cartridge is low.
2. Make sure your USB cable is properly connected to your PC. If it is, check to see if the cable is damaged in any way. Replace the USB cable, if necessary.
3. Make sure that you are using paper that works with the HP Photosmart C4280. According to the user manual, you should not use paper that is too thin, has a slick texture, or stretches too easily.
4. Pull jammed paper out of the printer if you experience a paper jam. To do this, press the 'Tab' key on the left side of the printer door to release it. Carefully remove the paper jam.
5. Perform a self-test to diagnose your printer problems if the previous steps were unsuccessful. To do this, hold the 'Cancel' button down. Next, press the 'Start' color copy button to perform a self-test.
