How to Repair an HP Officejet Scanner Failure

1. Place a color document face-down on the scanning glass and close the lid. Press the 'Start Color Copy' button, then lift the lid slightly during the scan to see if the scanner's light is working.
2. Take the printer to a service shop if you do not see any light coming from under the scanning glass. If you do see a light, unplug the printer's power cord from any surge protectors of other devices and plug it directly into an electrical outlet.
3. Move the printer to a different room and still plug it directly into an electrical outlet if you see the same error again. Power cycle the printer by unplugging the power cord with the printer turned off, waiting 30 seconds, then plugging the power cord back into the printer and turning the printer on.
4. Partially reset the printer if you continue seeing the error message. Unplug the power cord, then hold the '3' and '#' buttons on the control panel as you plug the power cord back in.
5. Do a semi-full reset on the printer by unplugging the power cord from the printer. Hold the '#' and '6' buttons on the control panel down while you plug the power cord back into the printer.
6. Take the printer to a repair shop if the error still displays.
