How to Use a Dot Matrix Printer With MS Word (4 Steps)

1. Make sure your dot matrix printer is properly set up with your computer. The unit should be plugged into a wall outlet and connected to your computer's case via a serial cable. The driver for the dot matrix printer (which came on a CD-ROM or floppy disk with the printer itself) must be installed on your computer. Once these are done, continue to Step 2.
2. Double-click on your document to open it in Microsoft Word.
3. Click 'Office,' then click 'Print.'
4. Select your dot matrix printer from the 'Printer' drop-down menu and click 'Print.' Your dot matrix printer will now recreate your Word document on paper.
