How to Fix a Paper Jam in an HP Officejet 6500 Printer

1. Remove all loose paper from the input and output trays, as well as the automatic document feeder.
2. Unplug the USB cable from the back of the printer.
3. Press 'Power' to turn the printer off.
4. Disconnect the printer's power cord.
5. Push the two release buttons on the rear access door, then pull out to remove the door.
6. Pull gently to remove any jammed paper. Use a flashlight to locate and remove all small scraps of paper that remain jammed.
7. Inspect the rollers on the rear access door for damage. If any of the rollers do not move easily, you may need to replace the door.
8. Push the rear access door until it clicks into place.
9. Plug the printer in and press 'Power' to turn it on.
10. Check the front tray of the printer for jammed paper, and remove it gently.
11. Pull up on the front edge of the printer to open the cartridge access door.
12. Inspect the inside of the machine for jammed paper and remove it gently.
13. Close the cartridge access door.
