How do I Print a DVD Cover by Adjusting Image Size?

1. Open your image editing software, such as Photoshop or The Gimp (which is free software). Create a new image file and set the proportions to 278mm wide and 190 mm high. This allows for a 'bleed' space of 3mm width around the cover. The bleed space is used to ensure that no white (unprinted) areas end up on the cover due to printing errors.
2. Choose the image that you want to use for the DVD cover. This can be any image such as a photograph or drawing that you have scanned into the computer. Open this image in your image editing software by clicking the 'File' menu and selecting 'Open' then browsing to the folder where the image is saved, selecting it and clicking 'Open.'
3. Select the portion of the image that you wish to use on the cover by selecting the 'selection' tool; or select the whole image by pressing Ctrl and A at the same time. Press Ctrl and C to copy the selection to the clipboard. Close this image and click on your empty DVD case. Press Ctrl and V to paste the image into your DVD cover.
4. Adjust the size of the image so that it fits your DVD cover. This can be achieved by clicking one of the boxes on the corners of the image that was copied into the DVD cover. Adjust the image so that it measures 190mm tall and 132mm wide. Move the image so that its right side touches the right side of the DVD cover. Use the text tool to add a title to the cover.
5. Add text to the left side of the cover to produce the DVD blurb. Consider adding text to the spine too, so that it can be more easily identified on a shelf. Save the file by clicking the 'File' menu and selecting 'Save.' Put paper into your printer and turn it on. Click the 'File' menu and select 'Print.' Select the correct printer, set the required number of copies and press 'OK.'
