How To Reset the Chip on Canon Cartridges

1. Power off the computer and unplug the cord from the wall. Unplug the USB cable from the computer.
2. Press and hold both the 'Resume' and the 'Power' buttons down at the same time. While you're doing that, plug the power cord back into the wall.
3. Continue holding down the 'Resume' button, but release the 'Power' button for approximately 5 seconds, and then press the 'Power' button back down again. This puts the printer into test mode.
4. Release both the 'Resume' and the 'Power' buttons, and wait for the light display to stop blinking. The printer is now in service mode.
5. Press the 'Resume' button repeatedly until you see 'Ink count' or 'Reset waste ink counter.' If you see 'Ink count' in the display, press the number '0' to reset it.
6. Press either the 'OK' or 'Set' button, and then power down the printer. Unplug the power cord from the wall. If you own a Bubble Jet printer, you may be prompted to press the 'Cartridge' button to reset the ink counter.
7. Plug the printer back into the wall, and then reconnect the USB cable to the computer before finally powering up the printer.
