1. Remove any packaging materials from your Brother printer, such as plastic wrapping and adhesive stickers.
2. Insert plain letter paper into the paper tray.
3. Connect the power cable to the back of the printer, then connect the other end of the power cable to the wall outlet. Press the power button on the printer to turn it on.
4. Remove your LC61 ink cartridges from their packages. Turn the green knob of the protective yellow cap clockwise until it clicks, then remove the yellow cap. Repeat this process for each color ink cartridge you are installing.
5. Open the ink cartridge compartment, then insert the LC61 cartridge into the correct compartment. The color on the top of the ink cartridge will correspond with the color on the compartment into which it should be installed. Repeat this process for each ink cartridge color you are installing, then close the ink cartridge door once you have finished.
6. Insert your installation disc into the disc drive on your computer. The installation wizard will begin automatically.
7. Follow the prompts from the wizard until you are instructed to connect the printer to the computer.
8. Connect the small end of the USB cable to the USB port on the printer, then connect the other end to an available USB slot on your computer.
9. Follow the rest of the prompts from the installation wizard until the process is completed. Select the 'Print Test Page' option to verify that the printer has been properly installed.
