1. Pull any paper out of the tray at the bottom of the Officjet 7310xi and remove any documents currently inserted into the feed tray at the top of the printer. Locate the plastic document feed tray cover at the top left end of the printer.
2. Lift the cover up and to the left. Grip the printer's top lid and lift it upward to expose the glass scanning area. Find the plastic notch at the upper-right corner of the lid.
3. Press and hold the plastic notch. Keep the notch held in and begin closing the lid. Stop and hold the lid in place when your fingers are near the glass scanning area.
4. Use your thumb or your other hand to pull down the front face plate on the lid. Pull the face plate off the printer while still holding the notch.
5. Release the notch and finish closing the lid. Locate the exposed green handle at the left end of the printer, underneath the plastic cover you opened earlier. Lift the handle up to access the document feed rollers.
6. Moisten a soft cloth with water and wring out the cloth so it is damp, but not soaking. Gently wipe off the document feed rollers and remove any visible obstructions, such as torn pieces of paper.
7. Push the green handle back down. Push the front face plate back onto the lid of the printer and push down the plastic cover at the left end of the Officejet.
8. Insert one sheet of blank paper in the document feed tray. Tap the printer's 'Start Copy Black' button to run the blank paper through the document feed rollers.
