How to Reset a Toner Cartridge

1. Buy a chip resetter, an inexpensive plastic tool with several pins on it. The resetter sends a signal to the toner cartridge to reset it. Make sure you check the resetter's package to ascertain that it's compatible with your printer cartridge.
2. Refill the cartridge.
3. Hold the toner cartridge in an upside-down position. This will allow the release holes to point upwards. Take the resetter in your other hand in a way that the LED light also points upwards. Press all the pins on the resetter at the same time.
4. Hold the pins on the resetter against the chip. Keep holding until the light turns to solid green. This may take about three seconds or more. Once the light turns green, the cartridge is reset and the printer is ready for use.
5. Put the cartridge back into the printer.
