Canon MP240 Instructions (6 Steps)

1. Plug your Canon MP240's power cord into a wall outlet in your home. If your computer is connected to a surge protector, consider plugging the printer directly into the surge protector.
2. Connect the included USB printer cable to both the back of the Canon MP240 and to a USB port on your desktop or laptop computer. This cable sends information from the computer to the printer for reproduction purposes.
3. Insert the CD-ROM that came with your Canon printer into the CD-ROM drive on your computer. Select the 'Run' option in the window that automatically loads.
4. Select 'Easy Install.' Read each box as it appears on the screen and select the 'Next' option to install the Canon MP240 software on your computer. The printer will not be able to communicate with the printer if this software is not installed. When the installation finishes, click 'Next.'
5. Reboot your computer.
6. Select the 'Print' option in the program you're using to use the Canon MP240. Typically this command is found under the 'File' menu and is labeled 'Print.' Your computer will transmit the data to the Canon MP240 using the USB data cable and the printer will reproduce the document on paper.
