You can learn about almost any product by visiting its website.
Determine whether or not your printer includes status information on its ink or toner levels. There are several ways to do this. You can check your owner's manual or go to the printer manufacturer's website and search for information there. If your printer's owner's manual confirms that your printer can give you status information about its ink or toner levels, then follow those instructions to do so. You may have to install or re-install the driver's on the CD that originally came with your printer.

Methods of accessing certain features and programs can vary.
Open your printer's 'Properties Dialog Box.' There are several ways to do this. In some versions of Windows, you can simply click on 'Start' and the 'Devices and Printers' link is on the right. Click on that link to open the 'Devices and Printers' folder. In older versions of Windows, you need to go to the 'Control Panel' first. Again, click on 'Start' and then 'Control Panel' will be listed on the right. Click on it to open. Look for the folder that says 'Devices and Printers' and click on that.

Ink Cartridges are simple to install in your printer.
Double click on the printer for which you want to view ink levels. There may be several printers listed in 'Printers and Devices.' Locate the one you want information about. This will open a box with a great deal of information about this printer. You can view, pause or cancel a document. You can also change your printer's settings and adjust your printer's options. Double clicking on any one of these options will open another dialog box. This dialog box will have tabs at the top with specific categories. Look for the one that says 'Ink Levels.' Wording will vary depending upon the printer manufacturer.

Follow manufacturer's instructions for replacing ink cartridges in your printer.
Click on the 'Ink Levels' tab. Here you will find information about your printer's ink levels. The information will vary depending upon the type of printer. Your printer may only have two ink cartridges; one for black and one for all colors. Other printers may have four ink cartridges: cyan, magenta, yellow, and black. If you find that your printer is low on one or more colors, then replace that ink cartridge. Instructions on replacing an ink cartridge can be found in your owner's manual or at the printer manufacturer's website.
