Overhead Projector Troubleshooting (5 Steps)

1. Check the overhead projector's power cable if neither the lamp nor fan run when you turn the projector on. It may have become unplugged.
2. Check the projector's top cover if the lamp and fan still won't turn on. Some projectors won't work if the top cover is not closed correctly.
3. Check the lamp-changing door if the fan turns on but the lamp does not. Make sure it's completely closed.
4. Check the lamp and make sure it is properly inserted into its socket it still isn't turning on.
5. Replace the projector lamp if the lamp still doesn't turn on. Unplug the projector, then lift the top cover, pull the metal lever near the lamp base toward you and ease the old lamp out of the socket. Place the new bulb firmly and squarely in the socket and close the top cover.
