How to Change the Baud Rate on an HP LaserJet Fax

1. Press and hold the '#' and '*' keys. Release both keys at the same time.
2. Press the '1,' '2' and '3' keys each in a row, in that sequence. Do not press all three keys at the same time or hold them down. After you release the '3' key, you will enter the service mode.
3. Scroll down until the menu display reads 'System Configuration.'
4. Press the 'Enter' key. This will bring you into the area where you can make machine setting changes.
5. Press the right arrow button until the display reads 'R/W Parameter.' Depending on which model you have, you may need to scroll through several options before reaching the correct menu item.
6. Press the 'Enter' key. This will allow you to view and change the baud rate setting. The default baud rate for most HP fax machines is 3360. This is the fastest setting for HP LaserJet Fax machines.
7. Choose your desired baud rate by selecting either '0' for 1440, '1' for 1200, '2' for 9600 or '3' for 7200 baud rate. The lower the baud rate, the slower the fax machine will transmit and receive faxes. Press 'Enter' to save your changes.
