1. Turn on the printer by pushing on the power button. Make sure the HP 1500 printer is connected to a power source by checking if the cables are tightly plugged at the back. The light beside the power button must be turned on. Check if the control panel cable is plugged into both the control panel as well as the printer's formatter.
2. Make sure there are no error-indicator light messages appearing on your HP 1500 printer's control panel. You can check the 'alerts' screen or printer status window on your PC for error messages.
3. Print a sample document to test the printer's engine. Open any word document on your computer and send a printing job to the computer, according to the appropriate commands on your word application program. The document should be printed without issues affecting its print quality or paper-feed problems.
4. Check if your HP 1500 printer is able to successfully print from your computer by checking the status of your USB cable. The USB cable disables itself automatically when both cables are connected. Disconnect both of the cables and reset the printer driver before reconnecting the wires.
5. Disconnect other devices attached to your parallel port such as MP3 players or gaming gadgets before attempting to print another document.
