How to Clean an Epson Print Head

1. Make sure the Epson printer is switched on, then press the self-cleaning button on the front console. The printer will run through a cleaning cycle, after which you will be prompted to print a test page. If the test page is blurry or otherwise unacceptable, proceed to step 2 for a deeper cleaning.
2. Raise the printer cover and let the print head stop moving before you touch anything inside.
3. Remove the cover on the printer cartridges on the back, right-hand side of the printer. The cover swings up and toward the back of the printer.
4. Remove the printer cartridges by squeezing the tabs on both narrow ends, then lift straight up. Set the cartridges aside in the same order that your remove them.
5. Check the nozzles in the bottom of the compartment that holds the printer cartridges. You are looking for a row of small holes that feed ink to the printer.
6. Dip a cotton swab in alcohol, then scrub the nozzles to remove dried, encrusted printer ink. Use fresh cotton swabs dipped in alcohol until all ink is removed from the nozzles.
7. Wait for the alcohol to evaporate, then blast each nozzle with a burst of compressed air to dislodge any remaining particles of ink.
8. Replace the printer cartridges in the same order as you removed them. Press down gently on each cartridge until it clicks into place.
9. Close the Epson printer cover and print a test page.
