How to Return a Defective HP Cartridge

1. Print something with your printer as proof that the cartridge is defective. You can print a test sheet or provide any page of text or images that was printed using the defective cartridge.
2. Complete the service information form located inside each cartridge box. If you cannot find this form, write on a separate sheet of paper your name, address, phone number, how the cartridge is defective and where you purchased it. Place the completed form back in the cartridge box.
3. Open the printer and pull the defective cartridge out of the printer. Package the defective cartridge in its original plastic wrap and return it to the original cartridge box.
4. Take the printed sheet and the cartridge in its box back to the store from which you purchased the cartridge. Let the clerk know that the HP cartridge is defective and show him the printed sheet. The clerk will provide you with a free replacement cartridge.
5. Contact HP Customer Service directly at 1-800-HPINVENT should you experience any problems returning the defective cartridge. Tell the HP customer service representative about your problem and follow her instructions about how to return the defective cartridge to HP.
