How to Install a Canon IP1700 Cartridge

1. Plug the power cord into the back of the printer. Then connect the power cord to any electrical outlet. The printer must be plugged in to change ink cartridges.
2. Lift the printer's front cover. The ink cartridges move to the center automatically, making it easier to change cartridges.
3. Remove old or expired print cartridges by pushing them down and pulling them out from the printer.
4. Remove the ink cartridge from its package and remove the protective plastic label. Don't touch any of the contacts on the ink cartridge; this could potentially damage it.
5. Slide the CL-41 FINE color ink cartridge into its appropriate slot (it is marked) and push up until it clicks into place. Do the same for the PG-40 FINE black ink cartridge.
6. Close the printer lid when finished. The printer will calibrate itself and clean the printer head automatically. This process takes a few minutes to finish. Wait until it is done before printing.
