How to Correct a Paper Jam in a Canon Printer

1. Gently pull out one of the pages that is jammed in the Canon printer. You may feel slight pressure holding against the paper. Continue to pull until the paper comes free. Repeat this process until you remove all of the paper.
2. Remove all of the printer paper from the paper tray. If you experience a paper jam often, you need to use a different kind of paper.
3. Replace the current paper with a thicker paper (look at the paper weight on the label). Thicker sheets of paper are less likely to stick to each another. When paper is ultra-thin, the rollers on the printer can easily pick up three or four pieces at once.
4. Leave room at the top of the paper tray. Putting too much paper into the tray can also create a paper jam.
5. Avoid stopping the printer in the middle of a job. Sometimes interrupting the print job can back the printer up, confusing it and resulting in a paper jam.
