1. Turn on the printer.
2. Download the SSC Service Utility setup file to your computer's desktop (See Resources). Double-click on the 'sscserve.exe' setup file and follow the installation prompts.
3. Click on the Windows 'Start' button, followed by the 'All Programs' menu option. Click on the SSC Service Utility folder and open the program.
4. Select the appropriate printer model from both-drop down menu boxes, listed under the 'Configuration' tab.
5. Click on the top-right 'X' button to close the program window.
6. Examine the system tray, located on the bottom right portion of the Windows tool bar. Right-click the small striped printer icon with your mouse to open the SSC Service Utility options menu.
7. Hover the mouse over the 'Protection counter' menu option and select 'Reset protection counter.'
8. Confirm the 'Has the ink pad been replaced' message by clicking the 'Yes' button. After the program completes the reset process, you may use the printer normally.
