How to Tell If my Computer Has All the Latest Drivers

1. Go to the Control Panel and click on System. Look for and click on the Device Manager. All of the hardware that is installed on your computer will be listed there. Right click on each piece of hardware and choose 'Properties.' Write down all of the hardware and the manufacturer.
2. Go to the manufacturer's websites for each piece of hardware. Look for the support or download links and find the latest drivers. Look at the date the driver was released to see if it is newer than the one you currently have.
3. Go to the Windows Update website from the Start menu. Choose to run Windows Update and it will list updated drivers for your hardware. You can select and download newer drivers. Be aware that some of these drivers may not be made by the manufacturer and may cause problems. Microsoft creates generic drivers that work for most hardware but sometimes do not. This is helpful if you can't find a driver but it is best to use the latest driver from the manufacturer if one is available.
