How to Clean an HP Deskjet D4360 (12 Steps)

1. Open the Deskjet D4360 'Toolbox' on your computer. Double-click the printer icon on your desktop. You can also click 'Start' then click 'Devices and Printers;' right-click the D4360 printer and choose 'Printer Properties'.
2. Click the 'Features' tab in the 'Printer Properties' dialog box. Click the printer 'Services' button to open the 'Toolbox'.
3. Click 'Clean the Print Cartridges' then click 'Clean'. Follow the onscreen instructions to clean the cartridges.
4. Click 'Print Test Page' under the 'Printer Properties' dialog box to run a test print and recalibrate the printer. If you are still experiencing streaks and fading, manually clean the print cartridges.
Manually Cleaning the Cartridges
1. Unplug the printer and remove any paper. Open the Deskjet cover and wait for the cartridge carrier to move to the right and begins to idle.
2. Remove the cartridges and place them on a clean piece of paper. Make sure that the copper strips are facing up..
3. Moisten a cotton swab with distilled water. Squeeze the swab to remove any excess water.
4. Wipe the cartridge copper contacts gently with the damp cotton swab, making sure not to touch the ink nozzles in between the contacts. Continue wiping the contacts until the ink residue or dust is gone. Wipe the contacts with a dry cotton swab to dry the cartridge.
5. Replace the cartridges when you are finished and close the cover. Plug the printer back into the electrical socket and run a print test to recalibrate the printer.
Cleaning the Exterior
1. Turn off the printer, remove any paper and unplug the cord from the wall.
2. Moisten a soft, lint-free cloth with water and squeeze out any excess water -- do not use any detergents as they can cause damage to the finish. Gently wipe the outside of the printer to remove any dust, debris, smudges or small pieces of paper.
3. Allow the printer to completely dry before plugging it into the socket. Resume normal use.
