How to Install an HP 2510 Wireless Printer (7 Steps)

1. Find the printer's control panel, located on the top panel, near the right edge. Place the cover over the control panel. Apply pressure to the cover until it feels properly seated. Lift the display unit located above the buttons.
2. Lift the paper output tray off of the paper input tray. Extend the guides on the paper input tray as far out as possible. Insert a stack of plain paper into the paper input tray, then slide the guides inward until they are flush with the edges of the paper. Replace the paper output tray and extend the attached paper guide.
3. Examine the rear panel of the printer and locate the power port and phone jack. Plug one end of the power adapter into the power port, then plug the power cord into the power adapter. Plug the remaining end of the power cord into a nearby electrical outlet. Plug one end of the phone cord into the printer's phone jack, then plug the remaining end into a nearby wall jack.
4. Examine the control panel and find the power button located in the upper-left corner. Press the power button and use the arrow button to select your preferred language and region settings. Press the 'OK' button to confirm your selections.
5. Hook your fingers under the front edge of the printer cover. Lift the printer cover upwards and allow it to come to a rest on its hinges. Remove your ink cartridges from their packaging and examine the printer's ink cartridge holder. Lift both of the latches on the cartridge holder. Insert your black ink cartridge into the slot on the right, underneath the crossbar. Pull the latch over the black ink cartridge and apply pressure until it feels secure. Insert the color ink cartridge into the left slot and repeat the installation process. Close the printer cover and press the 'OK' button to generate an alignment test page.
6. Examine the rear panel of your printer and locate the Ethernet port. Plug one end of your Ethernet cable into the Ethernet port. Plug the other end into your wireless access point and wait for the light located at the top edge of the printer to turn blue. Turn on your computer and log in to your operating system. Insert the installation CD that came packaged with your printer and run the installer application.
7. Follow the onscreen instructions until you are prompted to choose a connection type. Select the option labeled 'Network' or 'Through the network.' On the following screen, select the option labeled 'connect using wireless communication' or 'wireless network.' Follow the onscreen instructions and input the security information specific to your network. When prompted, disconnect the Ethernet cable from your printer. Once you have finished with the installer application, your printer is ready for use.
