1. Put the installation CD into your CD/DVD driver and close the drive. An auto-installation window will appear. Click 'Install' when prompted. Follow the instructions on the screen to install the software. If you need to download the drivers from the Brothers' website, once the download completes an auto-installation window will appear. Follow the installation instructions.
2. Go to your 'Start' menu and select 'Printers and Faxes.' Click on the option to 'Setup Faxes' and your Windows operating system will automatically set up faxing capabilities. You will simply need to follow the on-screen instructions during the procedure.
3. Click on the 'Fax Console' that appears in your task bar at the bottom right corner of the screen. Click the drop-down menu for 'Country,' select your country and input your area code in the box provided. A box will appear asking if you need to dial a number to reach on outside line, and if so, what number. Enter the number into the box provided and click on the 'OK' button.
4. Use the drop-down menu to select your fax machine from the list and place a check beside the option 'Enable Send.' If you want to receive faxes, also check the box for 'Enable Receive.'
5. Click the 'Next' button to complete your setup. The fax console will run in the background and automatically receive faxes for you. To send a fax, simply click on the fax console in your task bar, select the option 'Send Fax' and follow the on-screen instructions. Accomplish this by entering the fax number you want to send the fax to and dragging the files you want to fax into the fax console.
