1. Remove the left printer housing by inserting a ruler or similar object into the notch on the bottom left of the main unit to release the I/F cover tab. Remove the I/F cover and then insert the tip of a flat-head screwdriver into the notch on the upper right of the back of the main unit. Release the tab held by this notch. Release the tab on the bottom of the main unit from its stopper. Open the cover on the upper housing assembly and release the two tabs on the left to disconnect the left housing.
2. Repeat step one on the right side of the printer to detach the right housing. Press the CR lock lever on the rear of the main printer unit to release the lock. Move the CR unit towards the center of the printer. Release the two tabs on the right side of the upper housing. Remove the right housing to expose the printer mechanisms.
3. Open the stacker assembly -- the adjustable paper tray on the front of the printer -- and use a flat-head screwdriver to push the shaft on the left side of the assembly, releasing it from its slot in the housing. Lower and remove the stacker assembly.
4. Remove the upper housing. Release the two tabs on the front side of the main unit. Insert the tip of a flat-head screwdriver into the three notches on the back of the main unit to release the assembly.
5. Remove the ASF unit from the back of the printer. Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the three screws that secure the ASF unit to the main unit. Lift the ASF unit off the main printer unit.
6. Remove the hopper/retard roller unit, also called the paper feeder. Lift the hopper up and toward the back of the printer. Release the two tabs at its base and remove the hopper and its spring from the ASF frame. Remove the extension spring from the ASF frame and paper back lever. Disconnect the paper back lever from the ASF frame's bearing. Remove the compression spring from the ASF frame and then the entire retard roller unit.
7. Remove the lower housing by peeling off the right frame sheet and setting it aside. Remove the two rubber feet from the motor side of the printer. Remove the waste ink tube from the groove in the housing and the waste ink pad. Take the cap unit off the two guide pins in the lower housing and then remove the four screws that attach the printer mechanism to the housing. Release the two tabs on the motor side of the lower housing and pull it off the mechanism and frame.
