How to Replace Brother MFC Printer Ink (4 Steps)

1. Know when your Brother MFC printer needs. This will vary with model but is generally similar. This example uses an inkjet printer. Brother MFC printers monitor the level of ink in each cartridge. If one of the ink cartridges becomes low, the printer will alert you on the LCD screen of the printer with an indication of which color of ink is getting low. It will display an “Ink Empty Black (or other color)” and “Replace Ink”.
2. Buy the right ink for your Brother MFC printer. Check your owner’s manual for the specific type of ink required. You can also learn about the MFC printer ink cartridge needed by looking at the one that is presently in the printer (see Step 3). It is supposed to have the name/cartridge number on it. Once you have determined which inks you need, purchase whatever ones are called for.
3. Remove the old Brother MFC printer ink cartridge. Shut the paper tray. Open the cover of the ink cartridges on the printer and secure it in position. Unlock the specific color you are replacing by gently pulling down on the lever. Remove the empty ink cartridge.
4. Replace the Brother MFC printer ink cartridge. Take the new ink cartridge carefully from its bag (you can use this bag to place the old cartridge in to dispose of it). Take off the protective cover carefully on the ink cartridge. The Brother MFC printer ink cartridges will only fit in one place. Follow the arrow shown on the sticker to put the cartridge in the printer accurately. Press the cartridge down until the lever snaps into position above it. Close the cover of the ink cartridges. You have now completed the process needed to replace Brother MFC printer ink cartridges.
