Printing Issues With the Pentax PocketJet (6 Steps)

1. Press the main button on the PocketJet to make sure you have the printer turned on. Ensuring that you have the printer configured correctly will fix most common problems, and turning it on is the obvious first step.
2. Install the software from the included CD-ROM on the system on which you plan to use the printer. Run the software before you attach the printer via USB. If you installed the printer in a different order, you may need to uninstall the software and start over, making sure to follow the on-screen prompts.
3. Attach the printer to a USB port on your computer with the provided USB cable after the installation of the software completes. Make sure you have the printer turned off while you connect the cable. Turn the printer on after you connect it.
Troubleshooting
1. Look at the printer's three diagnostic lights. The color of the light, the pattern of the light's flashing and which light is active can help you diagnose problems quickly.The first light is the power-indicator light. Solid green means the printer runs off external power and solid yellow means the printer runs off the battery. Flashing yellow or flashing red indicates that the printer runs off the battery, but the battery is getting low on power.The second light is a data light and the third light is an error light. If first power-indicator light flashes red and the third light flashes yellow, the printer can't find its battery. If the third light alternates between flashing red and yellow this indicates an overheated print head. If the second and third lights flash yellow, this indicates a data receive error.
2. Clear any paper jams. If the paper hasn't moved in a while, the printer could be experience a paper jam. Press and hold the main button. The paper will roll slowly through the machine. Repeat this process until the paper is entirely clear of the printer, and reload a new sheet. Alternatively, you can press and gently open the release cover until it swings up as far as it can go, and manually remove the paper.
3. Clean the print head with the included cleaning cloth, if your printer stops printing clearly. This usually happens after about 500 sheets. Press the main switch for less than two seconds until the middle LED light turns on. Press the main button again for less than two seconds until the motor begins to run. Insert the cleaning cloth with the black side facing the back of the printer and allow it feed through.
