1. Purchase a Canon chip resetter for the model of cartridge you wish to reset. It is important to purchase a chip resetter made for your particular cartridge. Otherwise, it will not work properly. Chips on the various Canon model cartridges are different and, therefore, require a special resetting device.
2. Place the chip resetter on a table or desk so the top portion with the metallic tab is facing up.
3. Place the ink cartridge into the chip resetter making sure the circuit on the cartridge makes contact with the metallic tab on the reset device. Leave the cartridge in the device for up to 10 seconds, or as indicated on the chip resetter's instructions.
4. Remove the cartridge and return it to the printer by opening the access door and pressing it into the print cartridge carrier. Let the printer run realign the cartridges and check your ink levels by selecting the printer icon, choosing preferences and then maintenance. The ink levels should be reset.
