How to Find Out How Much Ink Is Left in an HP Photosmart Printer

1. Click on the 'Start' menu if you have Windows XP or click on the WIndows icon for Windows Vista or 7. Click on the 'All Programs' command and select 'HP.' Click on the 'HP Solutions Center.'
2. Click on the 'Settings' button when the HP software opens. Click on 'Printer Toolbox' to open the settings window pertaining to your Photosmart printer.
3. Click on the 'Device Services' tab in the 'Printer Toolbox' window. Click on the 'Estimated Ink Levels' tab to open up a window that will show you your ink levels.
4. Load a sheet of blank paper in the paper tray. Press and hold down the 'Cancel' button on the printer. Press the 'Start Copy Color' button while holding down the 'Cancel' button. A test page showing ink levels will print.
