How to Install an HP Deskjet F300

1. Unpack the printer if it was purchased new. Remove any protective material from the outside and inside of the printer.
2. Connect the power cable to the included transformer brick, then plug one end of the power cable assembly into the back of the printer, and the other end into a power outlet.
3. Load paper into the tray at the bottom of the printer, then push the width selectors together until they are snug against the stack of paper.
4. Press the power button at the top of the control panel on the left side of the printer.
5. Swing the plastic front door of the printer below the scanner lid down to access the holder for the ink cartridges. When the door is opened, the holder moves to the center of the printer.
6. Remove the black ink cartridge from the cardboard and foil packaging. Peel the protective film from the bottom of the ink cartridge, but do not touch the ink nozzle or the metal contact points on the cartridge.
7. Insert the cartridge into the receptacle on the right side of the ink cartridge holder. Align it slightly below the holder, then push the cartridge up and forward until it snaps into place.
8. Install the color ink cartridge using the same method as described in Step 7, then close the front door of the printer. A test page prints automatically.
9. Remove the test page when it is finished printing, and place it facedown on the scanner bed. The top left corner of the page must line up with the paper-shaped icon in the corner of the scanner bed.
10. Push the 'Scan' button on the control panel. The printer uses the test page to check and make corrections to the alignment of the ink cartridges.
11. Insert the software installation CD into your computer, and follow the onscreen prompts to install the software and drivers for your printer. Connect the printer to your computer only when prompted to do so by the software. When the installation is complete, the printer is ready to use.
