How to Troubleshoot a Royal Alpha 580 Cash Register

1. Verify there is paper in the printer, if the register displays a printer error. Align the printer paper so it is straight and push the printer bar into place. Test the printer for a paper jam. Push the 'Feed' button to advance or remove any paper that is obstructing the printer. Turn the 'Mode' key to the 'Off' position if 'PE: Printing Error' still appears on the cash register display. Unplug the machine for 10 seconds, then plug it back in.
2. Push the 'Clear' button if there is a function error and an 'E' appears on the cash register display. Rotate the 'Mode' key to the position it was in before the error message appeared and press the 'Clear' button if the function error continues to appear.
3. Push the 'Clear' button if there is an error beep. Rotate the 'Mode' key to the position it was in before the error beep occurred. Repeat the process if you are currently using the cash register.
4. Verify that the cash register is plugged in and connected to a working electrical outlet, if the register is not working. Rotate the 'Mode' button to the 'Off' position, unplug the register for 30 seconds, then plug it back in. If the register still does not work, rotate the 'Mode' button to the 'Off' position, take out one of the backup batteries and unplug the cash register for five minutes. Plug in the machine, replace the backup battery, and reprogram the cash register.
