How to Send a Fax With a Smartphone (5 Steps)

1. Sign up with a service. An email to fax service will transform your email account into a fax machine. A few services that you can consider using are PopFax, RapidFax, and Nextiva. As of 2010 these services cost between $9.95 to $16.95 per month. Most come with a 30 day free trial.
2. Scan your document. Go to the main menu of your cell phone click on 'Applications' and open up your camera scanning software.
3. Activate your camera and photograph the document that you wish to fax. Make sure that it is lying on a flat surface and the you fill the screen with the image. Take the picture and save the file as a JPEG in an easy to find location.
4. Create an email and click on 'Attachments'. Find the JPEG file, click on it, and wait for it to load.
5. Type in the fax number in the 'To' section followed by the special email address that you were provided with by the service. Click 'Send' and the fax machine will receive the document on the other end.
