How to Set an IP Address on an HP Deskjet 6940

1. Turn the printer on, and press the 'Report' button located on the left-hand side of the unit. Check the networking section of the report page, and note the current IP address of the printer.
2. Open an Internet browser, and type the IP address exactly as it appears on the report. The IP address consists of a series of four numbers, each separated by a period. For instance, a typical IP address might be 10.79.25.52.
3. Click the 'Network' tab, and choose the 'Wired (802.3) option. Click the IPv4 or IPv6 configuration option.
4. Choose the 'Manual IP' option, and type the IP address you want to use. Check with your network administrator if you do not know which IP address to use. Enter the same subnet mask and default gateway as what is shown on your report page.
