1. Plug the telephone line cord from the wall jack into the jack labeled 'Line' on the left side of the IntelliFax, and plug the power cord into an electrical socket.
2. Press the 'Mode' button repeatedly to cycle through the receive modes. Select 'Fax' to have the IntelliFax automatically answer every call as a fax; 'Fax/Tel' to have it answer every call, detecting and receiving faxes automatically, and double-ringing when it receives a voice call; or 'Manual' where you have to answer every call yourself.
3. Place a document face down, top edge first into the document feeder, up to thirty sheets at a time. Type in the fax number of your recipient, and then press 'Fax Start.' The IntelliFax will call the number and transmit your fax after connecting to the other machine. If the line is busy, the IntelliFax will automatically redial up to three times at five-minute intervals.
4. Press the 'Menu' button, then '231' on the keypad, and press one of the one-touch buttons to store a fax number for future use. Type the number, up to 20 digits, and then press the 'Set' button. If you want, type a name to associate with this number, up to 15 characters, using the keypad, and press the 'Set' button.
